Around the World with Forward Ladies

We welcomed 30 ladies to our Forward Ladies event – Around the World lunch with our co sponsors, Revell Ward, Ramsdens and HSBC on Friday. A networking event with a difference, ladies were invited to travel the world on our top floor in our Around the World themed suites.

In our French themed room, we had ‘Designer shopping in Paris’, where Emma from Clubit.tv sold a selection of designer sunglasses whilst the ladies enjoyed cheese, crapes and (most popular of all!) a glass of wine .

In the Caribbean suite, we were taken on a journey of relaxation with Caroline from Positive Guidance – she helped the ladies visualize relaxing on a caribbean beach before offering fruit punch and barbequeud fruit kebabs. VJW Holisics who are based at Heritage Spa & Beauty were also in this suite, offering mini massages to the lucky ladies. If that wasn’t enough relaxation, we had Chris in the Orient where we were treated to some Tai Chi breathing techniques to help us de-stress (in case the French wine hadn’t already achieved that!!)

In ‘Out of Africa’, we had Sinead from Ramsdens who proved very popular, as she was giving out chocolate! As there are many cocoa plantations in Africa, we thought this would fit in well with our African Safari themesuite – complete with fab views of Huddersfield.

In Traditional England, we were treated to a talk on English Tea, from Onita at Holmfirth Tea. It was great to hear someone talk with such passion about the good old British Brew!

Etta from Forward Ladies attended the event, and it was great to see herand hear her talk about the wonderful ways Forward Ladies are bringing ladies in business together across the UK. We’re really looking forward to working with Forward Ladies with our co-sponsors in the future.

The Huddersfield Food Guide

We’re excited to be featured on The Huddersfield Food Guide’s site, our page launched last week - we’re also Venue of the Week ! Craig who runs the Foodguide sites (including Rotherham, Barnley, Halifax etc) has been really helpful in setting this up and we would urge other food and drink outlets in the area to look at the concept. We are able to view our stats – and how many times our page has been looked at compared to other venues- which is a really useful tool.

The site is fantastic for finding new places to eat – we particularly like the ‘what’s on’ page – showing quiz nights, poker tournaments etc – ideal for an impromptu night out!

Twitbook-in etc

Networking @ Breakfast Time was a great success again despite the coughs and colds flying about! As ever, it’s great to see our guests doing business with eachother… Jenny from Point 2PR reported that she was now working with a lady from a charitible organisation who she met at our event last month.

The one minute presentations were followed by Paul Scott from Yorkshire Business Growth who treated us to an in depth look at Social Media, and how it can work with your business. As you can see Paul, we have taken your advice and done a bit of blogging!!

We’re trying to be healthy at Reception (the Bistro lunches take their toll!) and so we’ve been having ‘nature delivered’ from graze.co.uk. We recieved a code from Graze to share with our twitter followers to enable them to recieve a free box, which we did and now we have recieved some half price boxes for ourselves- just goes to show that twitter can work for you!

Next month, Heritage will be holding an Around the World Tour after Breakfast, so you will be taken on a trip to super chic Paris, the Caribbean, and given a taste of Oriental luxury – all in just one coridoor! Date for your diaries - 5th May 2010.
